The Night (Al-Layl)

In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
By the night when it enshrouds, 1 by the day when it appears radiant, 2 And Him who created the male and female, 3 Verily, (the ends) ye strive for are diverse. 4 For him that gives and fears (Allah) 5 and believes in the truth of the ultimate good 6 We shall facilitate for him the Way to Bliss. 7 But he who is a greedy miser and thinks himself self-sufficient, 8 and rejects what is right, 9 For him We shall ease the way of adversity, 10 nor will his wealth profit him when he falls [into the pit]. 11 Verify on us is the guidance 12 and, behold, Ours is [the dominion over] the life to come as well as [over] this earlier part [of your life]: 13 So, I warn you of the blazing Fire. 14 None shall enter it save the most wretched, 15 even he who cried lies, and turned away; 16 And avoid it shall the most pious, 17 the Godfearing who spends his wealth to purify himself; 18 and confers no favor upon anyone for recompense 19 But only seeking the countenance of his Lord, Most High. 20 surely, he shall be satisfied. 21
Allah the Almighty always says the truth.

When reading the Colorful Quran in English transliterated Arabic mode, you may not notice that there is an algorithm designed to match the pause requirements of the original Arabic scripture, (waqf signs). As you may know, the original Arabic Quran has five main types of pauses, (waqf) signs. (1) Compulsory break, where the transliteration uses a full stop. (2) Optional pause with the preference for pausing, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a probability of two thirds. (3) Optional stop with an equal preference for pausing and resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a half-half probability. (4) Optional pause with the preference for resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a chance of one third. (5) Attraction pause, also called hugging, or (mu’anaka) sign, where it is compulsory to pause at either one of two nearby positions, but not both; where the transliteration inserts a comma at either one of the two locations with a half-half probability.
