The Night (Al-Layl)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
By the Night as it conceals (the light); 1 And the day when it shines in all its glory, 2 And [by] He who created the male and female, 3 Verily, (the ends) ye strive for are diverse. 4 We shall facilitate the path to bliss 5 and confirms the reward most fair, 6 We will pave his way to ease. 7 But as for him who is a miser, and self-sufficient, 8 And who belieth the Good, 9 We shall facilitate the path to affliction 10 Nor will his wealth profit him when he falls headlong (into the Pit). 11 Lo! Ours it is (to give) the guidance 12 And lo! unto Us belong the latter portion and the former. 13 I have now warned you of the Blazing Fire, 14 whereat none but the most wretched shall be roasted, 15 who rejected the Truth, calling it falsehood and turned his back on it. 16 And Al-Muttaqun (the pious and righteous - see V. 2:2) will be far removed from it (Hell). 17 Who gives his wealth in order to be pure. 18 And no one has with him any boon for which he should be rewarded, 19 but only out of a longing for the countenance of his Sustainer, the All-Highest: 20 and such, indeed, shall in time be well-pleased. 21
