Al-Layl
The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By the night when it covers the day, 1 By the Day as it appears in glory; 2 And by Who created the male and female, 3 O men, you truly strive towards the most diverse ends! 4 Then as for him who gives away and guards (against evil), 5 And believed the best matter to be true 6 We shall surely ease him to the Easing. 7 And as for him who stinteth and is heedless, 8 and have no faith in receiving any reward (from God). 9 We shall surely ease for him the Path of Hardship (the Fire). 10 His wealth will not avail him when he falls into ruin. 11 Truly! Ours it is (to give) guidance, 12 and, behold, Ours is [the dominion over] the life to come as well as [over] this earlier part [of your life]: 13 Therefor have I warned you of the flaming Fire 14 None shall reach it but those most unfortunate ones 15 Who give the lie to Truth and turn their backs. 16 One who fears God shall be kept away from it -- 17 Who gives away his wealth, purifying himself 18 They do not expect any reward 19 except the pleasure of their Lord, the Most High 20 He will surely be well-pleased (with him). 21
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
