The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the night when it enshrouds, 1 And by the day as it appears in brightness; 2 And Him who created the male and female, 3 That your endeavour is for different ends. 4 Then as for him who giveths and feareth Him. 5 And testifieth to the Good, 6 We will indeed make smooth for him the path to Bliss. 7 But as for one who is miserly and unheeding, 8 And disbelieveth in goodness; 9 We will facilitate for him the difficult end. 10 his wealth shall not avail him when he perishes. 11 Truly! Ours it is (to give) guidance, 12 And most surely Ours is the hereafter and the former. 13 I have warned you about the fierce blazing fire 14 Which only the most wretched must endure, 15 Who had denied and turned away. 16 One who fears God shall be kept away from it -- 17 [He] who gives [from] his wealth to purify himself 18 and confers no favor upon anyone for recompense 19 seeking only the Face of his Lord, the Most High, 20 And he shall soon be well-pleased. 21
True are the words of God the Almighty.
