The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
I swear by the night when it draws a veil, 1 And [by] the day when it appears 2 And [by] He who created the male and female, 3 your striving is indeed to different ends! 4 We shall facilitate the path to bliss 5 And believed the best matter to be true 6 We will pave his way to ease. 7 And as for him who stinteth and is heedless, 8 And rejects the best, 9 We will facilitate for him the difficult end. 10 His wealth will not avail him when he falls into ruin. 11 Lo! Ours it is (to give) the guidance 12 and to Us belongs the Hereafter as well as the present world -- 13 and so I warn you of the raging fire 14 Which only the most wretched must endure, 15 who gives the lie to the truth and turns away [from it]. 16 and from which the most godfearing shall be removed, 17 Who giveth away his substance that he may be cleansed, 18 And who hath no favour from anyone to recompense. 19 But only the desire to seek for the Countenance of their Lord Most High; 20 surely, he shall be satisfied. 21
God the Almighty always says the truth.
