The Night (Al-Layl)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
I swear by the night when it draws a veil, 1 by the day when it appears radiant, 2 And the creating of the male and the female, 3 Verily, (the ends) ye strive for are diverse. 4 Yet he who gives to others and has fear, 5 And believes in Al-Husna. 6 We will indeed make smooth for him the path to Bliss. 7 but for him that is a miser, and sufficed, 8 And rejects goodness, 9 We will make smooth for him the path for evil; 10 And what will his wealth benefit him when he goes down (in destruction). 11 Surely it is for Us to show the Right Way, 12 And indeed the Hereafter and this world both belong to Us. 13 Now I have warned you of a Fire that flames, 14 where none shall burn except the most wicked, 15 who denied [the truth], and turned away. 16 Far removed from it will be the righteous 17 Who gives his wealth in order to be pure. 18 And is under no one's obligation to return his favour, 19 Other than seeking the glory of his Lord, most high, 20 and such, indeed, shall in time be well-pleased. 21
