The Night (Al-Layl)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the Night as it conceals (the light); 1 And by the day as it appears in brightness; 2 By (the mystery of) the creation of male and female;- 3 Verily, (the ends) ye strive for are diverse. 4 As for he who gives and fears Allah 5 And believes in the best [reward], 6 We will facilitate for him the easy end. 7 And as for him who stinteth and is heedless, 8 And rejects the best, 9 for him shall We make easy the path towards hardship: 10 And what will his wealth benefit him when he goes down (in destruction). 11 Indeed guiding is upon Us. 12 And truly, unto Us (belong) the last (Hereafter) and the first (this world). 13 Therefore do I warn you of a Fire blazing fiercely; 14 in which none shall be roasted except the most wretched sinner, 15 He who denieth and turneth away. 16 But save him who fears 17 Who giveth his wealth that he may grow (in goodness). 18 and confers no favour on any man for recompense, 19 but only out of a longing for the countenance of his Sustainer, the All-Highest: 20 He verily will be content. 21
