The Night (Al-Layl)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the night enshrouding 1 and by the day as it appears radiantly, 2 And the creating of the male and the female, 3 Indeed, your efforts are diverse. 4 For him that gives and fears (Allah) 5 for those who spend for the cause of God, 6 observe piety, and believe in receiving rewards from God. 7 But he who does not give and is unconcerned, 8 And rejects the best, 9 Unto him therefore We shall Indeed make easy the path to hardship. 10 and their wealth will be of no benefit to them when they face destruction. 11 Indeed, [incumbent] upon Us is guidance. 12 And most surely Ours is the hereafter and the former. 13 Therefore I warn you of the fire that flames: 14 none shall enter it but the most wicked, 15 who gives the lie to the truth and turns away [from it]. 16 But the righteous one will avoid it - 17 Who giveth away his substance that he may be cleansed, 18 And who hath no favour from anyone to recompense. 19 Except only the desire to seek the Countenance of his Lord, the Most High; 20 And he shall soon be well-pleased. 21
