The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
By the night when it covers the day, 1 and the day in splendour 2 And the creating of the male and the female, 3 Certainly, your efforts and deeds are diverse (different in aims and purposes); 4 As for him who gives and is godfearing 5 And testifieth to the Good, 6 We will ease him toward ease. 7 But he who is a greedy miser and thinks himself self-sufficient, 8 And gives the lie to the best,- 9 We shall facilitate for him the way to Hardship, 10 And his wealth will not avail him when he perishes. 11 Indeed guiding is upon Us. 12 and to Us belongs the Hereafter as well as the present world -- 13 I have warned you then about a raging Fire: 14 None shall enter it but the most unhappy, 15 Who give the lie to Truth and turn their backs. 16 and from which the cautious shall be distanced. 17 Who gives his wealth in order to be pure. 18 And who hath no favour from anyone to recompense. 19 seeking only the Face of his Lord, the Most High, 20 And presently he shall become well pleased. 21
Allah Almighty has spoken the truth.
