Al-Layl
The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
By the night as it veils [the earth] in darkness, 1 And [by] the day when it appears 2 And by oath of the One Who created the male and the female. 3 That your endeavour is for different ends. 4 Yet he who gives to others and has fear, 5 And believes in the best [reward], 6 We will indeed make smooth for him the path to Bliss. 7 But for those who are niggardly, horde their wealth, 8 And who belieth the Good, 9 We shall surely ease for him the Path of Hardship (the Fire). 10 And what will his wealth avail him when he falls? 11 Indeed guiding is upon Us. 12 And lo! unto Us belong the latter portion and the former. 13 and so I warn you of the raging fire 14 None shall reach it but those most unfortunate ones 15 who have rejected the (Truth) and have turned away from it. 16 The pious ones will be safe from this fire 17 one who gives his wealth to become purified, 18 And have in his mind no favour from anyone for which a reward is expected in return, 19 seeking only the Face of his Lord, the Most High, 20 Will surely be gratified. 21
Allah the Almighty always says the truth.
