Al-Layl
The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
I swear by the night when it draws a veil, 1 And [by] the day when it appears 2 And Him who created the male and female, 3 Verily, [O men,] you aim at most divergent ends! 4 Then as for him who gives away and guards (against evil), 5 And believes in Al-Husna. 6 We will pave his way to ease. 7 But he who does not give and is unconcerned, 8 And gives the lie to Al-Husna (see Verse No: 6 footnote); 9 We shall facilitate for him the way to Hardship, 10 And what will his wealth benefit him when he goes down (in destruction). 11 Indeed, [incumbent] upon Us is guidance. 12 And verify Ours is both the Hereafter and the life present. 13 and so I warn you of the raging fire 14 None shall enter it save the most wretched, 15 The one who denied and turned away. 16 One who fears God shall be kept away from it -- 17 he that spends his possessions [on others] so that he might grow in purity 18 and owes no favour to anyone, which is to be repaid, 19 Except the seeking of the pleasure of his Lord, the Most High. 20 surely, he shall be satisfied. 21
God Almighty has spoken the truth.
