The Night (Al-Layl)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By the night when it enshrouds, 1 By the Day as it appears in glory; 2 And the creating of the male and the female, 3 Indeed, your efforts are diverse. 4 As for him who giveth and is dutiful (toward Allah) 5 And accepts the best, 6 We will facilitate for him the easy end. 7 But for those who are niggardly, horde their wealth, 8 And gives the lie to the best,- 9 We will ease him toward difficulty. 10 and his wealth shall be of no avail to him when he perishes. 11 Truly! Ours it is (to give) guidance, 12 And truly, unto Us (belong) the last (Hereafter) and the first (this world). 13 Now I have warned you of a Fire that flames, 14 where none shall burn except the most wicked, 15 Who denies and turns away. 16 And away from it shall be kept the one who guards most (against evil), 17 [He] who gives [from] his wealth to purify himself 18 not as payment for any favours that he received, 19 Except as seeking (to fulfil) the purpose of his Lord Most High. 20 And indeed, soon he will be very pleased. 21
