The Night (Al-Layl)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By the night when it covers the day, 1 By the Day as it appears in glory; 2 and by the creation of the male and the female. 3 Verily, (the ends) ye strive for are diverse. 4 We shall facilitate the path to bliss 5 and believes in the truth of the ultimate good 6 We will indeed make smooth for him the path to Bliss. 7 But as for him who is niggardly, and thinks that he is self-sufficient, 8 And denied the best matter, 9 We shall surely ease him to the Hardship; 10 His wealth will not avail him when he falls into ruin. 11 Surely Ours is it to show the way, 12 and to Us belongs the Hereafter as well as the present world -- 13 Therefore do I warn you of a Fire blazing fiercely; 14 whereat none but the most wretched shall be roasted, 15 who have rejected the (Truth) and have turned away from it. 16 But save him who fears 17 Who gives his wealth in order to be pure. 18 not as payment for favours received, 19 except the pleasure of their Lord, the Most High 20 and before long he will be well satisfied. 21
