The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
By the night when it covers 1 and the day in splendour 2 And by Him Who created male and female; 3 surely your striving is to diverse ends. 4 As for him who giveth and is dutiful (toward Allah) 5 And believeth in goodness; 6 Unto him therefore We shall indeed make easy the path to ease. 7 But as for him who hoardeth and deemeth himself independent, 8 and rejects what is right, 9 We shall surely ease him to the Hardship; 10 and their wealth will be of no benefit to them when they face destruction. 11 BEHOLD, it is indeed for Us to grace [you] with guidance; 12 And verily unto Us (belong) the End and the Beginning. 13 Therefore do I warn you of a Fire blazing fiercely; 14 None shall enter it save the most wretched, 15 Who denied (the truth) and turned away. 16 And avoid it shall the most pious, 17 Who giveth away his substance that he may be cleansed, 18 And none hath with him any favour for reward, 19 Except as seeking (to fulfil) the purpose of his Lord Most High. 20 surely, he shall be satisfied. 21
Allah Almighty has spoken the truth.
