Al-Layl
The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
By the night as it envelops; 1 and by the day when it unveils. 2 And Him who created the male and female, 3 Verily, [O men,] you aim at most divergent ends! 4 For him that gives and fears (Allah) 5 and believes in the truth of the ultimate good 6 We shall surely ease him to the Easing. 7 but for him that is a miser, and sufficed, 8 and have no faith in receiving any reward (from God). 9 So We will very soon provide him hardship. 10 And what will his wealth avail him when he falls? 11 Truly! Ours it is (to give) guidance, 12 And to Us belong the End and the Beginning. 13 and so I warn you of the raging fire 14 None shall reach it but those most unfortunate ones 15 who belied and turned away, 16 The pious ones will be safe from this fire 17 Who giveth his wealth that he may grow (in goodness). 18 They do not expect any reward 19 Except only the desire to seek the Countenance of his Lord, the Most High; 20 And he is going to be satisfied. 21
