The Night (Al-Layl)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By the night when it envelopeth, 1 By the day when it appeareth in glory, 2 By (the mystery of) the creation of male and female;- 3 That your endeavour is for different ends. 4 Then as for him who giveths and feareth Him. 5 And believes in Al-Husna. 6 observe piety, and believe in receiving rewards from God. 7 But he who is a greedy miser and thinks himself self-sufficient, 8 And disbelieveth in goodness; 9 We will facilitate for him the difficult end. 10 and their wealth will be of no benefit to them when they face destruction. 11 Surely, in Our hands is guidance, 12 And indeed, to Us belongs the Hereafter and the first [life]. 13 I have warned you about the fierce blazing fire 14 in which none shall be roasted except the most wretched sinner, 15 Who gives the lie (to the truth) and turns (his) back. 16 And avoid it shall the most pious, 17 the Godfearing who spends his wealth to purify himself; 18 And have in their minds no favour from anyone for which a reward is expected in return, 19 But only the desire to seek for the Countenance of their Lord Most High; 20 And indeed, soon he will be very pleased. 21
