The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By oath of the night when it covers 1 and by the day when it unveils. 2 and by Him Who created the male and the female: 3 surely your striving is to diverse ends. 4 So for one who gave and practised piety 5 And believes in the best [reward], 6 Surely We will ease his way unto the state of ease. 7 But as for one who is miserly and unheeding, 8 and calls the ultimate good a lie 9 Unto him therefore We shall Indeed make easy the path to hardship. 10 When he falls (into Hell), his wealth will not help him. 11 Surely Ours is it to show the way, 12 and to Us belongs the Hereafter as well as the present world -- 13 I therefore warn you of the fire that is ablaze. 14 whereat none but the most wretched shall be roasted, 15 The one who denied and turned away. 16 But the God-fearing shall be kept away from it, 17 Who giveth his wealth that he may grow (in goodness). 18 And have in his mind no favour from anyone for which a reward is expected in return, 19 except the pleasure of their Lord, the Most High 20 And he shall soon be well-pleased. 21
God Almighty has spoken the truth.
