The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
I swear by the night when it draws a veil, 1 By the day when it appeareth in glory, 2 and by the creation of the male and the female. 3 That your endeavour is for different ends. 4 As for him who gives (in charity) and keeps his duty to Allah and fears Him, 5 And believes in the best [reward], 6 We shall surely ease him to the Path of Easing; 7 But as for him who is a miser, and self-sufficient, 8 and rejects what is right, 9 We shall surely ease for him the Path of Hardship (the Fire). 10 nor will his wealth profit him when he falls [into the pit]. 11 Verily We take upon Ourselves to guide, 12 And most surely Ours is the hereafter and the former. 13 Now I have warned you of a Fire that flames, 14 where none shall burn except the most wicked, 15 Who denied (the truth) and turned away. 16 One who fears God shall be kept away from it -- 17 He who spends his wealth for increase in self-purification, 18 And have in his mind no favour from anyone for which a reward is expected in return, 19 but only to seek the good pleasure of his Lord Most High. 20 He surely will be pleased (when he will enter Paradise). 21
God the Almighty always says the truth.
