The Night (Al-Layl)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
By the Night as it conceals (the light); 1 by the day when it appears radiant, 2 And Him who created the male and female, 3 Verily, (the ends) ye strive for are diverse. 4 Thus, as for him who gives [to others] and is conscious of God, 5 and believes in the finest, 6 We shall ease the way of fortune for him. 7 But he who is greedy miser and thinks himself self-sufficient. 8 And who belieth the Good, 9 Unto him therefore We shall Indeed make easy the path to hardship. 10 And his wealth will not avail him when he perishes. 11 It is indeed for Us to show the way, 12 and to Us belong the Last and the First. 13 So I have warned you of a Fire which is blazing. 14 in which none shall be roasted except the most wretched sinner, 15 who gives the lie to the truth and turns away [from it]. 16 But the God-fearing shall be kept away from it, 17 even he who gives his wealth. to purify himself 18 and confers no favor upon anyone for recompense 19 Except as seeking (to fulfil) the purpose of his Lord Most High. 20 And soon will they attain (complete) satisfaction. 21
