Remember when you set forth in the morning from your house assigning the faithful positions for the battle, God heard everything and knew all. 121 When two of your bands were about to lose heart God befriended them; and in Him should the faithful place their trust. 122 for, indeed, God did succour you at Badr, when you were utterly weak. Remain, then, conscious of God, so that you might have cause to be grateful. 123 Remember when you said to the faithful: "Is it not sufficient that your Lord should send for your help three thousand angels from the heavens? 124 "Yes, if you hold on to patience and piety, and the enemy comes rushing at you; your Lord will help you with five thousand angels having marks (of distinction)." 125 The sending of the angels is a glad news from your Lord so that you would have more confidence in Him. No victory is real unless it is from God, the Majestic and All-wise. 126 That He might cut down a section of the disbelievers or suppress them so that they turn back disappointed. 127 No part of the matter is yours whether He turns towards them or punishes them. They are harmdoers. 128 Unto Allah belongeth whatsoever is in the heavens and whatsoever is in the earth. He forgiveth whom He will, and punisheth whom He will. Allah is Forgiving, Merciful. 129
