The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
Recite: In the Name of thy Lord who created, 1 Createth man from a clot. 2 Read! Your Lord is the Most Generous, 3 who taught by the pen, 4 He taught the human being what he did not know. 5 Indeed, surely the human is very insolent 6 Because he considers himself self-sufficient. 7 Surely to your Lord is your return. 8 Hast thou seen him who dissuadeth 9 a servant [of God] from praying? 10 Seest thou if he is on (the road of) Guidance?- 11 Or enjoins piety? 12 Hast thou considered whether he may [not] be giving the lie to the truth and turning his back [upon it]? 13 Does he, then, not know that God sees [all]? 14 No indeed; if he does not desist, We shall drag him by the forelock; 15 The lying, sinful forelock - 16 Then let him call upon his henchmen! 17 We will now call the guards! 18 No, indeed; do not obey him! Prostrate and come nearer (to Allah). ۩ 19
