The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Read in the name of your Lord Who created. 1 created man from a clot of congealed blood. 2 Read: And thy Lord is the Most Bounteous, 3 who taught by the pen, 4 Taught man what he did not know. 5 Nay, but man doth transgress all bounds, 6 That he thinketh himself independent! 7 However, (all things) will return to your Lord. 8 What do you think? Have you seen he who forbids 9 a worshipper from praying? 10 Have you seen if he was upon guidance 11 Or enjoined guarding (against evil)? 12 Tell me if he (the disbeliever, Abu Jahl) denies (the truth, i.e. this Quran), and turns away? 13 Knows he not that Allah does see (what he does)? 14 No indeed; surely, if he gives not over, We shall seize him by the forelock, 15 his lying sinful forelock. 16 So, let him call upon his way! 17 and We too will call the stern and angry keepers of hell. 18 No indeed! Do not obey him, but prostrate yourself and come closer to God. ۩ 19
True are the words of God the Almighty.
