The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Recite thou in the name of thy Lord Who hath created 1 He created man from a clot. 2 Read - for thy Sustainer is the Most Bountiful One 3 Who has taught (the writing) by the pen [the first person to write was Prophet Idrees (Enoch)]. 4 taught man what he did not know. 5 Yet man behaves arrogantly, 6 That he thinketh himself independent! 7 Indeed towards your Lord only is the return. 8 HAST THOU ever considered him who tries to prevent 9 A slave (Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) when he prays? 10 Do you think he is rightly guided, 11 or is concerned with God-consciousness? 12 Tell me if he (the disbeliever, Abu Jahl) denies (the truth, i.e. this Quran), and turns away? 13 does he not know that Allah sees? 14 No indeed; surely, if he gives not over, We shall seize him by the forelock, 15 A lying, sinful forehead. 16 So let him call his associates, 17 and We too will call the stern and angry keepers of hell. 18 Nay! obey him not, and make obeisance and draw nigh (to Allah). ۩ 19
True are the words of God the Almighty.
