The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
19 verses, revealed in Mecca. First revelation of the Quran before The Pen (Al-Qalam)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Read! In the name of your Lord, who created: 1 created man from a clot of congealed blood. 2 Read and your Lord is Most Honorable, 3 who taught by the pen, 4 Hath taught man that which he knew not. 5 And yet, but yet man is rebellious, 6 As he bethinkest himself selfsufficient. 7 Surely to your Lord is the return. 8 Seest thou one who forbids- 9 A votary when he (turns) to pray? 10 Seest thou if he is on (the road of) Guidance?- 11 Or enjoins Righteousness? 12 Tell me if he (the disbeliever, Abu Jahl) denies (the truth, i.e. this Quran), and turns away? 13 Does he not know that Allah does see? 14 Let him beware! If he does not desist, We will drag him by the forelock -- 15 A lying, sinful forehead. 16 So let him call on his concourse! 17 We too shall summon the guards of Hell. 18 No indeed! Do not obey him, but prostrate yourself and come closer to God. ۩ 19
Almighty God's Truth.
