The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Read with the name of your Lord Who created, 1 He created man from a clot. 2 Read - for thy Sustainer is the Most Bountiful One 3 who taught by the pen, 4 Has taught man that which he knew not. 5 No indeed; surely Man waxes insolent, 6 As he bethinkest himself selfsufficient. 7 Verily unto thy Lord is the return. 8 Hast thou seen him who dissuadeth 9 A bondman when he offers the prayer? 10 Seest thou if he is on (the road of) Guidance?- 11 or enjoins true piety? 12 Have you seen if he denies and turns away - 13 Did he not know that God sees? 14 Nay! if he desist not, We would certainly smite his forehead, 15 a lying, sinful forelock. 16 Then, let him call upon his council (of helpers), 17 We will call on the angels of punishment (to deal with him)! 18 Nay! obey him not, and make obeisance and draw nigh (to Allah). ۩ 19
