The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Recite in the name of your Lord who created - 1 created Man of a blood-clot. 2 Recite: And thy Lord is the Most Generous, 3 Who taught by the pen, 4 taught man what he did not know. 5 Yet man behaves arrogantly, 6 that he sees himself sufficed. 7 Indeed, to your Lord is the returning. 8 Have you seen the one who prohibits 9 A bondman when he offers the prayer? 10 Bethinkest thou, if he is himself guided, 11 or orders piety? 12 Have you seen if he denies and turns away - 13 Does he not know that Allah sees everything? 14 And yet indeed if he does not desist We shall drag him by the forelock, 15 the lying, rebellious forehead! 16 So let him call his associates, 17 We will call the angels of Hell. 18 Nay! obey him not, and make obeisance and draw nigh (to Allah). ۩ 19
