In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
Read with the name of your Lord Who created, 1 created man out of a germ-cell 2 Read! Your Lord is the Most Generous, 3 who taught by the Pen, 4 Has taught man that which he knew not. 5 Despite this, the human being still tends to rebel 6 In that he looketh upon himself as self-sufficient. 7 Surely unto thy Lord is the Returning. 8 What do you think? Have you seen he who forbids 9 a servant when he prays -- 10 Bethinkest thou, if he is himself guided, 11 Or enjoins Righteousness? 12 Have you considered if he gives the lie to the truth and turns (his) back? 13 Does he not know that Allah sees everything? 14 No indeed; if he does not desist, We shall drag him by the forelock; 15 A lying, sinful forelock! 16 Then, let him call upon his council (of helpers), 17 We, will call the Zabania (the harsh angels of Hell). 18 Beware! Do not obey him, but bow in adoration and draw near (to your Lord). ۩ 19
