The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
Read! In the Name of your Lord, Who has created (all that exists), 1 Created man from an embryo; 2 Read! Your Lord is the Most Generous, 3 who taught by the pen, 4 Taught man what he did not know. 5 Indeed, surely the human is very insolent 6 As he considers himself independent! 7 Verily unto thy Lord is the return. 8 Have you (O Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) seen him (i.e. Abu Jahl) who prevents, 9 A servant when he prays? 10 Bethinkest thou, if he is himself guided, 11 or enjoins true piety? 12 Hast thou considered whether he may [not] be giving the lie to the truth and turning his back [upon it]? 13 Does he not know that Allah sees everything? 14 Let him know that if he does not desist, We shall certainly drag him by his forelocks, 15 A lying, sinful forelock! 16 and then let him summon [to his aid] the counsels of his own [spurious] wisdom, 17 We too shall summon the guards of Hell. 18 Nay, heed him not: But bow down in adoration, and bring thyself the closer (to Allah)! ۩ 19
Allah Almighty has spoken the truth.
