The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
Recite thou in the name of thy Lord Who hath created 1 created man from a clot of congealed blood. 2 Read, and your Lord only is the Most Beneficent, 3 who taught by the Pen, 4 taught the human what he did not know. 5 Nay! man is most surely inordinate, 6 for he believes himself to be self-sufficient. 7 truly, all will return to your Lord. 8 Hast thou seen him who dissuadeth 9 A servant when he prays? 10 What is your opinion – if he were upon guidance, 11 Or enjoins piety? 12 Did you consider: what if he gives the lie (to the Truth) and turns away (from it)? 13 does he not know that Allah sees? 14 By no means! If he desist not We shall seize and deal him by the forelock 15 A lying, sinning forelock. 16 So let him summon his helpmates; 17 We shall summon the guards of Hell. 18 Nay! (O Muhammad (Peace be upon him))! Do not obey him (Abu Jahl). Fall prostrate and draw near to Allah! ۩ 19
God the Almighty always says the truth.
