The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
19 verses, revealed in Mecca. First revelation of the Quran before The Pen (Al-Qalam)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
Recite in the name of your Lord who created - 1 He created man from a clot. 2 Read! And your Lord is the Most Generous, 3 Who taught by the pen - 4 Has taught man that which he knew not. 5 Nay, but verily man is rebellious 6 In that he looketh upon himself as self-sufficient. 7 Surely to your Lord is the return. 8 HAST THOU ever considered him who tries to prevent 9 a servant [of God] from praying? 10 Have you considered if he were on the right way, 11 Or enjoineth piety? 12 Tell me if he (the disbeliever, Abu Jahl) denies (the truth, i.e. this Quran), and turns away? 13 Does he not know that Allah sees everything? 14 And yet indeed if he does not desist We shall drag him by the forelock, 15 A forelock, lying, sinning. 16 So let him call his associates, 17 We, will call the Zabania (the harsh angels of Hell). 18 Nay, pay thou no heed to him, but prostrate thyself [before God] and draw close [unto Him]! ۩ 19
Allah Almighty has spoken the truth.
