The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
Read! In the name of your Lord, who created: 1 created man from a clot [of blood]. 2 Read: And thy Lord is the Most Bounteous, 3 who taught by the pen, 4 taught man what he did not know. 5 Nay, but verily man is rebellious 6 for he believes himself to be self-sufficient. 7 Verily, to thy Lord is the return (of all). 8 Have you seen him who restrains 9 A bondman when he offers the prayer? 10 What will happen if the praying person is rightly guided 11 or is concerned with God-consciousness? 12 Bethinkest thou, if he belieth and turneth away? 13 Knoweth he not that Allah doth see? 14 No! If he does not desist, We will surely drag him by the forelock - 15 The lying, sinful forelock - 16 and then let him summon [to his aid] the counsels of his own [spurious] wisdom, 17 We shall call the guards of Hell. 18 Beware! Do not obey him, but bow in adoration and draw near (to your Lord). ۩ 19
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
