The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
(Muhammad), read in the name of your Lord who created (all things). 1 Created man from a clinging substance. 2 Read! Your Lord is the Most Bountiful One 3 who taught by the pen, 4 taught Man that he knew not. 5 And yet, but yet man is rebellious, 6 Because he sees himself free from want. 7 Indeed, to your Lord is the return. 8 HAST THOU ever considered him who tries to prevent 9 A votary when he turns to his devotions? 10 Have you considered if he were on the right way, 11 Or enjoined guarding (against evil)? 12 Seest thou if he denies (Truth) and turns away? 13 Knoweth he not that Allah beholdeth? 14 And yet indeed if he does not desist We shall drag him by the forelock, 15 a lying, sinful forelock. 16 Then let him call upon his henchmen! 17 [the while] We shall summon the forces of heavenly chastisement! 18 Nay, Obey not thou him. But prostrate thyself, and draw near (unto Allah). ۩ 19
Allah Almighty has spoken the truth.
