The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
READ IN THE name of your Lord who created, 1 Created man from a clot. 2 Read - for thy Sustainer is the Most Bountiful One 3 He Who taught (the use of) the pen,- 4 Teacheth man that which he knew not. 5 Indeed, surely the human is very insolent 6 for he believes himself to be self-sufficient. 7 Lo! unto thy Lord is the return. 8 Seest thou one who forbids- 9 a servant (of Allah) when he prays? 10 Have you seen if he is upon guidance 11 or bade to godfearing -- 12 Seest thou if he denies (Truth) and turns away? 13 Does he not know that Allah sees? 14 Nay! If he (Abu Jahl) ceases not, We will catch him by the forelock, 15 the lying, rebellious forehead! 16 So let him call on his concourse! 17 and We too will call the stern and angry keepers of hell. 18 Nay! obey him not, and make obeisance and draw nigh (to Allah). ۩ 19
