The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
READ in the name of thy Sustainer, who has created 1 created the human from a (blood) clot. 2 Read, for your Lord is most beneficent, 3 Who taught by the pen - 4 Taught man what he did not know. 5 Yes indeed, man is surely rebellious. 6 for he believes himself to be self-sufficient. 7 Surely to your Lord is the return. 8 Did you see him who forbids 9 A bondman of Ours when he prayeth 10 Do you think he is rightly guided, 11 or is concerned with God-consciousness? 12 Have you considered if he gives the lie to the truth and turns (his) back? 13 Does he, then, not know that God sees [all]? 14 No! If he does not desist, We will surely drag him by the forelock - 15 A forelock that lies, is sinful. 16 Then let him call his associates; 17 We will now call the guards! 18 By no means! Obey not thou him. Continue to adore, and continue to draw nigh. ۩ 19
