In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Proclaim! (or read!) in the name of thy Lord and Cherisher, Who created- 1 Createth man from a clot. 2 Read! Your Lord is the Most Generous, 3 who taught by the Pen, 4 The One Who taught man all what he did not know. 5 And yet, but yet man is rebellious, 6 for he believes himself to be self-sufficient. 7 for, behold, unto thy Sustainer all must return. 8 What thinkest thou? He who forbids 9 a servant when he prays -- 10 Have you seen if he was upon guidance 11 and enjoins piety? 12 Have you seen if he denies and turns away - 13 Does he not know that God observes all things? 14 And yet indeed if he does not desist We shall drag him by the forelock, 15 By the lying, the sinful forelock. 16 Then, let him call (for help) to his council (of comrades): 17 We also shall call the infernal guards. 18 Nay, Obey not thou him. But prostrate thyself, and draw near (unto Allah). ۩ 19
