The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
Recite in the name of your Lord Who created, 1 created Man of a blood-clot. 2 Read, for your Lord is most beneficent, 3 who taught by the Pen, 4 The One Who taught man all what he did not know. 5 Nay, but verily man is rebellious 6 As he bethinkest himself selfsufficient. 7 However, (all things) will return to your Lord. 8 Have you seen one who prevents 9 A servant when he prays? 10 Do you think he is rightly guided, 11 Or enjoined guarding (against evil)? 12 Hast thou considered whether he may [not] be giving the lie to the truth and turning his back [upon it]? 13 Knoweth he not that Allah doth see? 14 Nay! if he desist not, We would certainly smite his forehead, 15 By the lying, the sinful forelock. 16 Then let him call his associates; 17 We will now call the guards! 18 No, indeed; do not obey him! Prostrate and come nearer (to Allah). ۩ 19
