The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Recite in the name of your Lord who created - 1 created man from a clot [of blood]. 2 Read and your Lord is Most Honorable, 3 who, by the pen, taught the human being: 4 Taught man that which he knew not. 5 Nay, surely man transgresses; 6 for he thinks himself self-sufficient. 7 Verily unto thy Lord is the return. 8 Bethinkest thou him who forbiddeth, 9 A bondman when he offers the prayer? 10 Do you think he is rightly guided, 11 Or enjoins righteousness? 12 What will happen if the prohibiting rejects the Truth and turns away from it!? 13 Does he not know that God sees? 14 Nay! If he (Abu Jahl) ceases not, We will catch him by the forelock, 15 his lying, sinful forelock. 16 Then let him summon his council, 17 We also shall call the infernal guards. 18 (Muhammad), never yield to him! Prostrate yourself and try to come closer to God. ۩ 19
