The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Recite in the name of your Lord Who created, 1 created man from a clot of congealed blood. 2 Read, for your Lord is most beneficent, 3 Who hath taught mankind by the pen 4 Taught man what he knew not. 5 Yet man behaves arrogantly, 6 because he thinks himself self-sufficient: 7 However, (all things) will return to your Lord. 8 Have you seen him who restrains 9 A bondman of Ours when he prayeth 10 What thinkest thou? If he were upon guidance 11 Or enjoineth piety? 12 Seest thou if he denies (Truth) and turns away? 13 Does he not know that Allah sees? 14 No indeed; surely, if he gives not over, We shall seize him by the forelock, 15 A forelock, lying, sinning. 16 Then, let him call upon his council (of helpers), 17 We will call the guards of Hell (to deal with him)! 18 Nay, Obey not thou him. But prostrate thyself, and draw near (unto Allah). ۩ 19
God Almighty has spoken the truth.
