The Embryo (Al-Alaq)

In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
Read: In the name of thy Lord Who createth, 1 created Man of a blood-clot. 2 Recite thou: And thy Lord is the Most Bounteous, 3 Who taught by the pen - 4 taught Man that he knew not. 5 Yet man behaves arrogantly, 6 In that he looketh upon himself as self-sufficient. 7 Surely unto thy Lord is the Returning. 8 Seest thou one who forbids- 9 a servant of Ours from prayer? 10 Have you thought, if he had been on guidance 11 Or he commandeth piety? 12 What thinkest thou? If he cries lies, and turns away - 13 does he not know that Allah sees? 14 No indeed; surely, if he gives not over, We shall seize him by the forelock, 15 A lying, sinning forelock. 16 Then let him call upon his henchmen! 17 We too would summon the braves of the army. 18 By no means! Obey not thou him. Continue to adore, and continue to draw nigh. ۩ 19
