The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
Read! In the name of your Lord, who created: 1 He created man from a clot. 2 Read! Your Lord is the Most Bountiful One 3 Who teacheth by the pen, 4 Taught man what he knew not. 5 Nay, surely man transgresses; 6 that he sees himself sufficed. 7 Indeed, to your Lord is the return. 8 HAST THOU ever considered him who tries to prevent 9 A servant when he prays? 10 Have you seen if he is upon guidance 11 Or enjoins righteousness? 12 Have you thought that if he denies and turns away, 13 Knows he not that Allah does see (what he does)? 14 Let him beware! If he does not desist, We will drag him by the forelock -- 15 By the lying, the sinful forelock. 16 Then, let him call his assembly, 17 We will now call the guards! 18 No! Do not obey him. But prostrate and draw near [to Allah]. ۩ 19
