The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Read! In the name of your Lord, who created: 1 Created man from a clot. 2 Recite! Your Lord is the most Honorable One, 3 He Who taught (the use of) the pen,- 4 Hath taught man that which he knew not. 5 Indeed, surely the human is very insolent 6 As he bethinkest himself selfsufficient. 7 Surely to your Lord is the return. 8 What do you think? Have you seen he who forbids 9 A servant when he prays? 10 Bethinkest thou, if he is himself guided, 11 Or enjoins righteousness? 12 Have you thought that if he denies and turns away, 13 Does he not know that Allah sees? 14 No indeed; surely, if he gives not over, We shall seize him by the forelock, 15 his lying sinful forelock. 16 Then let him call his associates; 17 We will now call the guards! 18 Nay! obey him not, and make obeisance and draw nigh (to Allah). ۩ 19
