The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Recite thou in the name of thy Lord Who hath created 1 created man from a clot of congealed blood. 2 Recite thou: And thy Lord is the Most Bounteous, 3 The One Who taught to write with the pen. 4 taught man what he did not know! 5 Nay, but man doth transgress all bounds, 6 As he considers himself independent! 7 Indeed, to your Lord is the return. 8 Have you seen one who prevents 9 A bondman of Ours when he prayeth 10 Hast thou considered whether he is on the right way, 11 Or he commandeth piety? 12 Have you thought that if he denies and turns away, 13 Knows he not that Allah does see (what he does)? 14 No! If he does not desist, We will surely drag him by the forelock - 15 by the lying forelock steeped in sin. 16 and then let him summon [to his aid] the counsels of his own [spurious] wisdom, 17 We will call the guards of hell. 18 (Muhammad), never yield to him! Prostrate yourself and try to come closer to God. ۩ 19
God the Almighty always says the truth.
