The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Recite: In the Name of thy Lord who created, 1 created the human from a (blood) clot. 2 Read! And your Lord is the Most Generous, 3 Who taught by the pen, 4 Taught man what he did not know. 5 Nay, surely man transgresses; 6 because he thinks himself self-sufficient: 7 Surely your returning is to your Lord. 8 HAST THOU ever considered him who tries to prevent 9 A bondman of Ours when he prayeth 10 What is your opinion – if he were upon guidance, 11 or is concerned with God-consciousness? 12 Tell me if he (the disbeliever, Abu Jahl) denies (the truth, i.e. this Quran), and turns away? 13 Did he not realise that Allah is watching? 14 Let him beware! If he desist not, We will drag him by the forelock,- 15 by the lying forelock steeped in sin. 16 Then let him call upon his henchmen! 17 and We too will call the stern and angry keepers of hell. 18 Yes indeed; do not listen to him – and prostrate, and become close to Us. (Command of Prostration # 14) ۩ 19
