In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
READ in the name of thy Sustainer, who has created 1 created Man of a blood-clot. 2 Read - for thy Sustainer is the Most Bountiful One 3 Who has taught (the writing) by the pen [the first person to write was Prophet Idrees (Enoch)]. 4 taught the human what he did not know. 5 Nay, verily, man becomes grossly overweening 6 for he thinks himself self-sufficient. 7 Surely! Unto your Lord is the return. 8 Have you seen the one who forbids 9 A servant when he prays? 10 Have you considered if he were on the right way, 11 and enjoins piety? 12 Have you thought that if he denies and turns away, 13 Does he not know that God sees? 14 Indeed, if he does not desist, We will seize him by the forelock, 15 The lying, sinful forelock - 16 So let him summon his helpmates; 17 We will call on the angels of punishment (to deal with him)! 18 No! Do not obey him. But prostrate and draw near [to Allah]. ۩ 19
