The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
READ in the name of thy Sustainer, who has created 1 Created man, out of a (mere) clot of congealed blood: 2 Read, and your Lord only is the Most Beneficent, 3 who taught by the pen, 4 Has taught man that which he knew not. 5 Nay, but man doth transgress all bounds, 6 Because he considers himself self-sufficient. 7 Lo! unto thy Lord is the return. 8 Did you see him who forbids 9 A votary when he (turns) to pray? 10 Do you think he is rightly guided, 11 Or he commandeth piety? 12 What is your opinion – if he denies and turns away, how wretched will be his state! 13 Does he not know that Allah does see? 14 No indeed; if he does not desist, We shall drag him by the forelock; 15 A forelock that lies, is sinful. 16 Then let him call upon his henchmen! 17 We, will call the Zabania (the harsh angels of Hell). 18 No! Do not obey him. But prostrate and draw near [to Allah]. ۩ 19
True are the words of God the Almighty.
