The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
READ IN THE name of your Lord who created, 1 Created man from a clinging substance. 2 Read and your Lord is Most Honorable, 3 Who hath taught mankind by the pen 4 taught man what he did not know. 5 Indeed, surely the human is very insolent 6 Because he sees himself free from want. 7 Indeed, to your Lord is the return. 8 Seest thou one who forbids- 9 a servant when he prays -- 10 What will happen if the praying person is rightly guided 11 Or had enjoined piety, (it would have been better)? 12 Seest thou if he denies (Truth) and turns away? 13 Knoweth he not that Allah beholdeth? 14 No indeed; if he does not desist, We shall drag him by the forelock; 15 A lying, sinning forelock. 16 So, let him call upon his way! 17 We will call the guards of hell. 18 No indeed; do thou not obey him, and bow thyself, and draw nigh. ۩ 19
