The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
Recite: In the Name of thy Lord who created, 1 Hath created man from a clot! 2 Recite, and your Lord is the most Generous - 3 Who hath taught mankind by the pen 4 Has taught man that which he knew not. 5 And yet, but yet man is rebellious, 6 That he thinketh himself independent! 7 However, (all things) will return to your Lord. 8 What is your opinion – regarding him who forbids – 9 a servant of Ours from prayer? 10 Seest thou if he is on (the road of) Guidance?- 11 Or enjoined guarding (against evil)? 12 What thinkest thou? If he cries lies, and turns away - 13 Knows he not that Allah does see (what he does)? 14 Let him beware! If he desist not, We will drag him by the forelock,- 15 By the lying, the sinful forelock. 16 So let him call his associates, 17 We shall call the guards of Hell. 18 No! Do not obey him. But prostrate and draw near [to Allah]. ۩ 19
