The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
Read! In the name of your Lord, who created: 1 created man from a clot of congealed blood. 2 Recite thou: And thy Lord is the Most Bounteous, 3 who, by the pen, taught the human being: 4 Has taught man that which he knew not. 5 Nay, verily, man becomes grossly overweening 6 As he considers himself independent! 7 Surely! Unto your Lord is the return. 8 Have you seen one who prevents 9 a servant when he prays -- 10 Seest thou if he is on (the road of) Guidance?- 11 or is concerned with God-consciousness? 12 Have you thought that if he denies and turns away, 13 Is he then unaware that Allah seeth? 14 No indeed; surely, if he gives not over, We shall seize him by the forelock, 15 a lying, sinful forelock. 16 Let him call on his associates for help 17 [the while] We shall summon the forces of heavenly chastisement! 18 Nay, heed him not: But bow down in adoration, and bring thyself the closer (to Allah)! ۩ 19
Allah Almighty has spoken the truth.
