The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
19 verses, revealed in Mecca. First revelation of the Quran before The Pen (Al-Qalam)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Read: In the name of thy Lord Who createth, 1 created Man of a blood-clot. 2 Read, for your Lord is most beneficent, 3 who, by the pen, taught the human being: 4 taught man what he did not know! 5 Nay, verily, man becomes grossly overweening 6 As he considers himself independent! 7 Surely! Unto your Lord is the return. 8 What do you think? Have you seen he who forbids 9 A servant when he prays? 10 Hast thou seen if he relieth on the guidance (of Allah) 11 or is concerned with God-consciousness? 12 What thinkest thou? If he cries lies, and turns away - 13 Does he not know that Allah does see? 14 No! If he does not desist, We will surely drag him by the forelock - 15 A lying, sinful forehead. 16 So let him summon his helpmates; 17 We shall summon the guards of Hell. 18 (Muhammad), never yield to him! Prostrate yourself and try to come closer to God. ۩ 19
Allah Almighty has spoken the truth.
