The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
(Muhammad), read in the name of your Lord who created (all things). 1 Created man from an embryo; 2 Recite: and your Lord is Most Generous, 3 who, by the pen, taught the human being: 4 Taught man that which he knew not. 5 And yet, but yet man is rebellious, 6 For he thinks he is sufficient in himself. 7 Surely to your Lord is the return. 8 Did you see him who forbids 9 a servant when he prays -- 10 Have you seen if he is upon guidance 11 Or he commandeth piety? 12 Have you seen if he denies and turns away - 13 Did he not realise that Allah is watching? 14 Indeed, if he does not desist, We will seize him by the forelock, 15 by the lying forelock steeped in sin. 16 So let him summon his helpmates; 17 We also shall call the infernal guards. 18 Nay, pay thou no heed to him, but prostrate thyself [before God] and draw close [unto Him]! ۩ 19
Almighty God's Truth.
